What It Is

Vascular lesion treatment uses targeted Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to safely reduce the appearance of broken capillaries, spider veins, facial redness, and rosacea. These tiny, visible vessels sit close to the skin’s surface and often grow more noticeable with age, sun exposure, genetics, and inflammation.

Using the advanced LUVO Lucent IPL system, pulses of specific wavelengths of light are directed at the vessel, gently heating it until the blood coagulates and the vessel collapses. The result? Less redness, fewer visible vessels, and clearer, more even-toned skin — without downtime.

Benefits

  • Reduces facial redness and flushing
  • Treats broken capillaries and spider veins
  • Helps improve rosacea-related vascularity
  • Targets vascular lesions on the face
  • Gentle, non-invasive, and quick
  • Little to no downtime
  • Uses advanced pulse technology for safer, more even results
  • Suitable for multiple skin types

Who It’s For

This treatment is ideal if you experience:

  • Broken capillaries or visible blood vessels
  • Spider veins on the face
  • Diffuse or patchy redness
  • Rosacea-related vascular issues
  • Sun-induced redness
  • Persistent flushing
  • Vascular lesions from age, heat, inflammation, or genetics

Perfect for anyone wanting clearer, calmer, less reactive-looking skin.

What to Expect

  • A brief consultation to assess your skin and identify vascular areas
  • The LUVO Lucent IPL handpiece delivers controlled pulses of light directly onto the vessel
  • You may feel a quick, warm “snap,” but treatments are fast and very tolerable
  • Vessels typically darken or fade immediately, continuing to improve in the following days
  • Most clients see improvement after just one session, though a series may be recommended for optimal results

Treatment Time: 10–60 minutes
Downtime: Minimal to none

Results Timeline

  • Immediately after: Mild redness or warmth that fades quickly
  • 1–7 days: Vessels may appear darker before fading — completely normal
  • 1–3 weeks: Visible reduction of blood vessels, capillaries, and redness
  • 2–4 sessions: Best improvement for rosacea and chronic vascular concerns
  • Long-term: Ongoing redness reduction and more even skin tone with maintenance as needed

Contraindications

IPL vascular treatments may not be suitable if you have:

  • Recent sun exposure or tanning
  • Active infection or open wounds in the area
  • Photosensitive medications or conditions
  • Pregnancy
  • Very dark skin tones (higher risk of pigmentation changes)
  • Certain rosacea subtypes involving pustules (may need alternative treatment)
  • Recent use of retinol, AHAs/BHAs, or exfoliating treatments

A consultation will determine the safest and most effective settings for your skin.

Before & After Details

 Before Your Appointment:

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning for 2–4 weeks
  • Pause retinol, acids, or exfoliants 3–5 days pre-treatment

  • Avoid hot yoga, saunas, or anything that triggers flushing right before your appointment
  • Do not use self-tanner on treated areas

After Your Appointment:

  • Vessels may darken initially — this is normal and part of the healing
  • Avoid heat, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours
  • Apply SPF daily
  • Avoid exfoliation until any dryness or flaking resolves
  • Do not pick or scratch darkened vessels

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at dermadefined@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Vascular lesions are visible blood vessels in the skin such as broken capillaries, spider veins, facial redness, and rosacea-related flushing.

IPL targets the red pigment (hemoglobin) in the blood vessels with light energy, causing the vessel to safely collapse and be reabsorbed by the body over time.

Most clients see improvement in 1–4 treatments, depending on the size, depth, and location of the vessels and overall skin condition.

Treatment feels like a brief warm snap on the skin. Sensation is quick and well tolerated, and treatments are typically very fast.

You may experience temporary redness, warmth, or slight swelling for a few hours after treatment. These effects usually resolve quickly with little to no downtime.
